Highlights

Spring : Spring brings out the beauty of the region with the wildflower in bloom, the tree budding, and the wildlife on the move. With the days becoming longer the evening will allow you to take in some fishing. Moose are especially visible this time of year. A rainy day can be well spent browsing through our public libraries and discovering their collection of interesting books and papers. Please visit our local public library in Millinocket 207-723-7020 and East Millinocket 207-746-3554.

Summer : Summer is a great time for fishing, canoeing kayaking and boating on numerous lakes in the region. For those who do not wish to partake, there are many places where you can enjoy the spectacle of the areas activities. Vulture Rock is a favorite spot to watch the rafters negotiate. The Cribworks, a spectacular and challenging Piece of the whitewater on the West Branch of the Penobscot River. Hiking is second to none in this corner of maine. The Appalachian Tail reaches the highlight at Mount Katahbin, and the view from Knif Edge is a reward for the efforts of the climb. Millinocket has a great 9-hole public golf course, open from April until October. Aptly name Hillcrest the clubhouse sits on the park of a hill, giving it enough elevation to afford a magnificent view of Mount Katahdin from the sixth bole.

Fall : Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the same summer activities in slightly cooler temperatures and without the summer throngs. The magnificent beauty of the foliage viewed in crisp cooler air makes this a favorite season for many!

Winter : Winter brings out the snow lovers, and both X-country skiers and snowmobilers find the beauty and trail conditions of the terrain a welcome addition to the enjoyment of the sport itself.
