The Ambajejus Boom House, located on Ambajejus Lake once housed the men who worked on the logging river drives, and displays the old days of the era. It is accessible by boat and visitors are on the honor system.
Millinocket Lake, approximately 8 miles long and 5 miles wide, is smaller than the other chain of lakes, but similarly popular due to the majestic views of Mt. Katahdin and the abundant wildlife: moose, deer, bear, eagles, otters and loons.
The access point at the junction of the Golden and Baxter State Park Roads has about as much activity as you will find in one spot in the North Woods. Camping and cabins are available just before and at the access point; whitewater rafting and kayak adventure companies, trading post with gasoline, fine dining at one of the oldest family-owned bed and breakfast, scenic air tours and wilderness boat tours are all desirable options for exploring the area.
For those who wish to explore the area, take a scenic tour and wildlife photos of the katahdin Region, call on companies who can offer such an experience. Choose to ride via boat, canoe, touring kayk or in the comport of a van.
