Anderson/Staples American Legion Post 112 Oxford
169 King Street Oxford 04270 Phone : 207-539-2649
The Sons organization is divided into detachments at the state level and squadrons at the local level. A squadron pairs with a local American Legion post; a squadron’s charter is contingent upon its parent post’s charter. However, squadrons can determine the extent of their services to the community, state and nation. They are permitted flexibility in planning programs and activities to meet their needs, but must remember SAL’s mission: to strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion. Therefore, squadrons’ campaigns place an emphasis on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for our nation’s children, caring for veterans and their families, and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.

Hamlin Memorial Library
16 Hannibal Hamlin Drive, PO BOX 43 Paris 04271 Phone : 207-743-2980 In March of 1805, Oxford County was officially established, with Paris selected as the County Seat. One of the first business transactions for the new county was to acquire property for, and then build, the County buildings. There is no record of what happened to the very first jail building supposedly built from the plans in the 1805 papers, other than a reference in the transaction for the building currently standing that directs that the second building be built on the site of the first.

HOPE
, P.O. Box 276 South Paris 04281 Phone : 207-890-3673 In the opening lecture of a major course in his second year in the McGill University Faculty of Medicine (Montréal) the professor advised the American students that they would not be taught prognosis "because you do not have the right to limit your patient's lives. Rather, if they have a serious illness it is your responsibility to advise them to get their affairs in order and get on with their lives. Then, promise them that you will do everything in your power to help them get on with their lives." To Hamilton, that instruction contained all of the essential elements of the Hippocratic Oath. He held to that belief through his entire career and into the formation of H.O.P.E, where it comprises the essential integrating principle behind all of H.O.P.E.'s supportive group work of creating communities of caring people helping each other get through tough crossroads in their lives.

McLaughlin Garden
97 Main Street South Paris 04281 Phone : 207-743-8820 In 1936 Bernard McLaughlin began planting what would become one of Maine's most beloved gardens. A century-old Maine farmstead with massive stone walls and huge barn provided a unique background for his sophisticated collection of trees, woody shrubs, and perennials.Bernard welcomed visitors to the garden whenever the gate was open, creating a true mecca for garden enthusiasts. With no formal horticultural training, tending the garden single-handedly for most his life, he eventually became known as the "Dean of Maine Gardeners." Bernard McLaughlin died at age 98 in 1995.Now over seventy years old, the landmark two acre garden is under the stewardship of a nonprofit organization formed to preserve the historic home, barn and garden for the public.

Moss Brook Church
41 Western Avenue,Suite B South Paris 04281 Phone : 207-739-2528 For many people, the most difficult part of going to church for the first time (or the first time in a while), is the fear of the unknown. What is it going to be like? What if they ask me to do something? What should I wear.At Moss Brook Church, we do our best to alleviate those concerns. We know that if you aren’t at ease, you won’t really be able to enjoy your time with us. Meeting at OHCHS, helps us do that. The relaxed atmosphere of the auditorium is enhanced by our “come as you are” attitude. You’ll find good music played by our live band, teaching from God’s Word you can understand, and a no-pressure style in all that takes place. Our goal is not to pack as many people in as we can, or to see how big an offering we can collect, but to introduce you to the one Person who can truly make life matter- Jesus Christ. Check us out. You’ll be glad you did.

Norway Library
258 Main Street Norway 04268 Phone : 207-743-5309 Fax : 207-744-0111 The Norway Library was established in 1885. For many tears it was located above Longley's store, until the present building was completed in 1938. This building was a gift to the Town of Norway from Mrs. Maude Kaemmerling, a summer resident of Norway Lake, whose relatives were some of the early settlers of Norway. A bronze plaque in the library's vestibule indicates that the building is dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Kaemmerling's parents, Albert and Mary Thompson, and her brother, Frank Thompson. The lot on which the library stands had been vacant since the fire of 1894. The brick materials blend with other Main Street buildings built after the fire, and the neo-classic design of the library was provided by the Boston architect William B. Coffin. Philip D. Wight of Norway submitted a bid of $31,190 to construct the building. There was an official ceremony on December 15, 1938 to open the new library building, which at the time housed a collection of about 9,000 books.

Poland Spring Preservation Park
115 Preservation Way Poland Spring Phone : 207-998-7143 Poland Spring Water’s extensive history begins deep in the woods of Maine. Dating back to 1845, this company brought Maine settlers and respective dignitaries flocking to Poland Spring for its curative spring waters and picturesque setting. In the early 1900’s a state of the art bottling facility and springhouse were constructed using Spanish architecture as its theme. No cost was spared to ensure that the highest quality of Poland Spring Water be maintained.Today these buildings together are known as Preservation Park, housing a dedication to the growth of Poland Spring natural spring water. After a three-year restoration project, the facilities, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, were faithfully transformed into an informative museum open to the public. Through scientific displays and vintage memorabilia, the museum offers a close up look at one of Maine’s oldest industries. Also located on the property is the Nettie Ricker Conference Center, originally a warehouse, which has been transformed into office and conference space.
