Museums
This region has a rich history of papermaking, lumbering and the history of early river drivers and life in a rural woods area. Here are several museums that will help you appreciate and understand the past and how it has molded our communities.

Antique Snowmobile Museum : The Snowmobile Museum is the result of hard work by the sons of Earlan Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a leader in developing snowmobiles in the State of Maine. The museum features a host of reconditioned sleds from a number of early manufactures. All of the sleds are in working condition and the creators of the museum use several yearly when they recreate a trip from Millinocket to the Debsconeag Lakes area. The Campbell family worked with the Polaries Co. testing the prototype sleds being developed in Minnesota. The museum is located at the Northern Timber Cruisers clubhouse in Millinocker, and is open on weekends during the winter or by appointment. Please call 207-723-6203.

Boom House : Located on Ambajejus Lake where the penobscot River flows in the lake. This building is listed as a National Historical Landmark. The building and area was used during river drives of logs. When the logs reached the lake they were hauled across the lake to the aoulet some 13 miles away. The boom House can be accessed by anowmobile, boat or by foot and is open year round on a honor system.View photos of the historical museum at www.moreairphotos.com/boomhouse
