	S. Fernald's Country Store S. Fernald's Country Store started in Damariscotta, Maine 20 years ago, moved to Waldoboro for ten years, and now we're back in Damariscotta. We are located at 50 Main St. in the old Lincoln County Weekly building, just as you cross the bridge from Newcastle. We are an old fashioned country store that offers original deli sandwiches, penny candy, ice cream, and plenty of odds and ends. We offer a casual and homey place for a great breakfast or sandwich and to meet with friends.

	Southport General Store In 1882, Edward Everett Pinkham, known as Everett, opened a new store in one side of his house on the hill. The store was known for years as E. E. Pinkham and Son. It stood on the site of the present store, opposite the Civil War monument. The store and Post Office were the center of the islandâ€™s social community. Many people came to Southport for three months in the summer, living in their own cottages or at small inns or hotels.
