	COOPP COOPP was never designed to compete with commercial facilities, but was instead founded in 2007 due to the complete absence of any legal, state-inspected poultry processing facilities, a unique role it has served for the last four years. With the opening of a commercial state-inspected, poultry processing facility in neighboring West Gardiner, and another facility in Wales, south-central Maine now has three state-inspected poultry processing facilities within a few miles of one another.
