Ogunquit
Ogunquit is a town in York County, Maine, United States. As of the 2000 census its population was 1,226. The popularity of the town as a summer resort is epitomized by its motto, "Beautiful Place by the Sea. Ogunquit, which meant "coastal lagoon" to native Abenaki Indians, was first a village within Wells, which was settled in 1641. The first sawmill here was established in 1686, and shipbuilding developed along the tidal Ogunquit River.

Oxford is a town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The population was 3,960 at the 2000 census. The town includes the village of Welchville. Welchville was located on the Little Androscoggin River, where the woolen textile mill of the Harper Manufacturing Company was established. The town is crossed by state routes 26 and 121. It borders the towns of Paris to the north, Hebron to the northeast, Norway to the northwest, Poland to the southeast, and Otisfield to the southwest.

Penobscot is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The Bagaduce River runs through the town. The population was 1344 at the 2000 census. Penobscot was one of the original townships in 1762, designated Plantation No. 3. The original name used for the region encompassing Penobscot was Majorbigwaduce, a Wabenaki word that means either a big tidal salt bay” or “at the bad shelter place.

The Town of Poland, Maine is located in Androscoggin County, settled in 1768 and incorporated on February 17, 1795 from Bakerstown Plantation. It is home to the famous Poland Spring House. As early as 1796 the Mansion House was opened as a hotel. When the grandson of the owner claimed it had cured him of a chronic dyspepsia, and the guests began praising the water, the local spring became a major attraction, as did its contents.
