Sagacious is a well-maintained 34', Bill Shaw designed, Pearson sloop. "She's an honest boat that will get you anywhere quickly and safely, in a design that won't leave comfort behind". Sagacious is available as a "captained" charter and can accommodate four to five passengers. You are welcome to sit back and just enjoy the splendor of Penobscot Bay or actively participate in sailing the vessel.

Every summer, Camp Hawthorne offers intensive sailing programs for campers interested in technical and recreational sailing. Campers who join this two-week, overnight program spend half of each day recieveing sail training, and the other half of the day joining in a wide range of games, sports and activities with the members of our General Program. For the first week, all sailors are taught basic boat safety, rigging and basic sail handling with an instructor in the boat.

This is an introductory course to sailing allowing you to feel confident in sailing a boat of about 20 to 30 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters. A preparatory standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required. Includes the Sailing Made Easy textbook.

The franchise grants the protection of exclusivity for passenger, vehicle and freight transportation among and between the islands of Casco Bay and the mainland terminal in Portland, Maine.

CYC also promotes numerous social events throughout the year, including club cruises, local sailing regattas and weekly sailboat races in Casco Bay .
