The Department of Audit conduct our audits in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America and the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller of the United States.

The Maine Film Office is a division of the Maine Office of Tourism and the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. The film office helps bring film, television and other media projects to Maine, works to expand and improve Maine's in-state production industry, and helps all Maine made media productions succeed. The film office is advised by the Maine State Film Commission, a board of volunteers appointed by the Governor of Maine.

The Maine Warden Service dates back to 1880, when the first wardens were appointed to enforce laws giving Maine’s moose and deer their first legal protection. The service’s first enforcement action occurred on March 12, 1880 when two men were apprehended for killing a doe in closed season.

The Waste Management and Recycling Program, of the Maine State Planning Office, has a three-fold mission: to collect solid waste data, to assist municipalities in their efforts to improve recycling and composting performance, and, to ensure sufficient, environmentally secure disposal capacity for Maine's municipal solid waste.

The Wells Reserve at Laudholm is a National Estuarine Research Reserve with its headquarters listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Wells Reserve is a 1600-acre research, education, and recreation facility, a public-private partnership within the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. Reserve facilities are located at Laudholm Farm in Wells, Maine, and include the Maine Coastal Ecology Center.
