One of the largest historical photography archives in Maine, the Penobscot Marine Museum’s photography collections contain 100,000 film and glass plates negatives as well as prints, slides, cabinet cards, postcards and daguerreotypes. The collections range from the vast archives of the Eastern Illustrating & Publishing Company to intimate family albums.

The Portland Fire Museum, 157 Spring St, is operated by the Portland Veteran Firemen's Association (PVFA). The PFVA has as much history as the building where the museum is located. Currently the PVFA has 20 active members consisting of retired and current Portland Firefighters. The history below was written by Don Whitney, a Retired Portland Firefighter, who has written three books on Portland's Fire History.

Cape Elizabeth is the home of Portland Head Light. Situated along the spectacular shores of Fort Williams Park, at 1000 Shore Road, the popular landmark is owned and managed by the Town of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The Museum at Portland Head Light is contained within the former Keepers' Quarters. The award winning Museum contains a number of lighthouse lenses and interpretative displays.
