Long Lake Public Library
The Long Lake Public Library opened its doors in July of 2007. It was born of concerns to meet the needs of the youngest to the most elderly. We provide regular reading programs, have guest lecturers, and work in collaboration with area organizations/schools to provide services for the community.

The library remained on School Street until 1937, when a brick colonial-style building was erected and given to the town of Sanford by Dr. and Mrs. Harvey D. Thornburg. The mission of Louis B. Goodall Memorial Library is to encourage, foster and enhance a lifelong enjoyment of reading and learning for the community.

The original incarnation of the library was a Catholic reading club formed in 1939 by the Reverend Lionel J. Thibodeau. The Library is one of the main sources in the Valley for genealogical information. There are numerous family histories, Acadian genealogies and genealogical dictionaries, marriage records, local census dating back to the early 1800's

Biddeford was one of the first cities in Maine to enjoy public library service; its first library was a city department and occupied a room in the City Building. McArthur Library now offers community members access to some 65,000 book volumes, 170 magazine subscriptions, 1500 music cassettes or CD’s, 2,000 VHS tapes or DVD’s, and 1500 audiobooks on either cassette or CD.

Library cards are issued free of charge to residents of Mechanic Falls, and children may receive a card once they have entered kindergarten. Adults will be fined for overdue books at the rate of 50 cents per book per week. Overdue videos will be fined at a rate of 50 cents per day overdue.

The Mexico Public Library attempts to offer a wide variety of books in all areas. In addition to the customary sections of Fiction, Nonfiction, Biography, and Reference, we also display shelves of new arrivals, Classics, Short Stories, and a collection of books pertaining to Maine. We have internet accessible computers for public use. These computers also have electronic encyclopedias, atlases, and several learning games for children.
