 | Hubbard Free Library The Hubbard Free Library is housed in the oldest library building in Maine still serving its original function. Designed by local architect Alexander C. Currier to look like an English country church, the library was dedicated in March, 1880, as the Hallowell Social Library. Adult and children's programming is presented throughout the year, including a Children's Story and Craft Hour for 2-5 year olds Wednesday mornings, 10:30-11:30. |
|  | Jackson Memorial Library The Jackson Memorial Library opened at its present location in 1935. The land was donated by the four Long sisters, the house left to the town by Mary Elinor Jackson and moved by WPA labor to the Main Street site. Now the seventy-fifth anniversary of the library is approaching, and a larger building is needed to house the library’s collection of books, magazines, DVD’s and books on tape, and meet the twenty-first century needs—computer access, study areas, meeting space—of the community. |
|  | Jay-Niles Memorial Library The Jay-Niles Memorial Library was a gift deeded to the Town of Jay on February 21st, 1918. The Niles children donated the library in honor of their parents Varanas and Mehitable Harris Niles. All books, magazines, large print materials, and music cds may be borrowed for two weeks at a time. Videos and DVDs may be borrowed for up to 3 days. One must be at least 15 years of age to borrow videos. |
