 | D.A. Hurd Library The D.A. Hurd Library has been a central part of the North Berwick community since it opened its doors in January 1928. The original building was expanded in 1987 to include a children's room, and to provide space for the growing collection of books. Today, the library shelves house nearly 35,000 items including books for patrons of all ages, large print materials, audio books, video tapes and DVDs, magazines, newspapers, and primary source materials documenting the town’s history. |
|  | Davis Memorial Library Davis Memorial Library is housed in a beautiful, one story, one room brick structure designed by John Calvin Stevens. Beginning in 1923 a separate appropriation for running expenses and book purchases was implemented . This started with $150 for books, and $50 for expenses. |
|  | Denmark Public Library The Denmark Public Library has been serving the community as a non-profit organization since 1987. Our mission is to serve as an activity center that provides the community with access to information, literacy activities, and programs that are educational and entertaining, and as a source for independent learning. Library cards are available to all patrons, free of charge. Your card can be used to borrow books, audio books, and movies for two weeks. |
|  | Dorcas Library The Dorcas Library was started by the Dorcas Society of Prospect Harbor in 1932. The Dorcas Library participates in Literacy Programs coordinated by Sumner Adult Education. Interaction with the local schools promotes Reading Programs as well as offers information services for students and teachers. |
|  | Dyer Library Funded by a generous bequest from Olive Dyer in the name of her husband Oliver, the first home of the Dyer Library was created in the basement of Saco City Hall. A dirt floor was covered over in “hard pineâ€, a furnace was added, black walnut bookcases and tables were constructed, books, were moved in and Sarah W. Tucker was hired as the first librarian at a salary of $400 a year. |
