	PORTLAND STAGE A season of seven shows that play to over 50,000 people annually. 	Portland Symphony Orchestra A group of leading Portland musicians comes together to form a musical organization. Invitations for membership are sent to interested parties throughout the area. The newly formed group, the Amateur Strand Symphony Orchestra, holds its first rehearsal with 75 instrumentalists.

	Sam Van Aken Sam Van Aken's art combines sophisticated technology with traditional modes of art-making. Van Aken's projects cross boundaries between artistic genres, including performance, installation, video, photography, and sculpture. Born in Reading Pennsylvania, in 1972, Sam Van Aken received his undergraduate education in Communication Theory and Art. Sam Van Aken is one of the recipients of the 2010 Joan Mitchell Foundation Award.

	Sarah Faragher Sarah Faragher was born in 1967 in Bar Harbor, Maine, grew up even farther downeast in Addison, a small town in Washington County, and now live and work in the beautiful midcoast region. She make her living as a painter and as a seller of used and rare books. She paint directly from nature and in my home studio, using both oil and watercolor. Much of my recent work is part of an ongoing series entitled Home Truth, about the meaning of home, memory and its depths, and the passage of time.
