Sun City Tanning & Swimwear began in the winter of 1998. Our first store was opened on Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine. We opened under the premise that we would provide the finest tanning experience in Portland, and incorporate that with Portland’s largest selection of swimwear and beachwear. It was also important to us that we maintain a huge inventory all year round. Many people thought we were crazy to be selling bikinis in January in Maine, but we realized that most people tanned during the winter because they were going away on vacation, and nobody else was selling swimwear and beachwear during this time of year. We quickly became known as the place to go year round for all our customers beachwear needs. Realizing we were a unique specialty retailer we opened a second store in Yarmouth in 2006. Today, Sun City Tanning & Swimwear continues to provide the premium tanning experience in Greater Portland and a dedication to meeting all our customers’ swimwear and beachwear needs.
