Runge Oriental Rugs has been on Main Street in Yarmouth for the past 22 years. The owner of the store, A.E. Runge, Jr. or “Tad” as his friends and customers call him, represents the most recent generation of Runges with a commitment to the appreciation and marketing of attractive older and antique oriental carpets. The tradition of great rugs and customer’s satisfaction started with Tad’s great grandfather, Edward Runge, who bought and sold oriental rugs on Fifth Avenue in New York City starting in the 1880’s. Edward put together the Altman collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
