Our approach, however, differs from daily journalism in the depth of our reporting, the intimacy of our stories and our de-emphasis on spectacle and celebrity. Through fieldwork, collaborative critiques, and guided discussion of relevant work, we teach students how to ethically research and gain access to a story, collect information, edit their work, and return to the field to refine the process.
