Maine Machine Products was founded in 1956 by Roland Sutton and Bill Detert when the local metalworking trade was in its infancy. Their engineering degrees and military background laid the groundwork to launch their own precision machining company which, in 1982, Sutton took over complete control.To ensure a pool of workers qualified for ever-more complex contracts, the company developed a close relationship with Central Maine Community College and established a scholarship program. Since 1974, over half of the scholarship recipients are still employed by the company today.
