The Sea Gull Shop first opened in 1937 as The Sea Gull Tea Room. Guy and Myra Martin were the proprietors. Sandwiches and pastries were served and a few gifts and postcards were sold. Several additions were later added to the original tea room. The menu expanded to include lunch and dinner and their gift selection grew. In 1977, the Houghtons, a young couple with five children from Massachusetts, bought The Sea Gull Shop. A new septic system and well were added that season. We added new items to the Martin's original menu and included more Maine souvenirs in the gift shop to satisfy a growing tourist community.
