At the Seal Cove Auto Museum you will find a wide variety of antique autos, from an 1899 DeDion Bouton to a 1924 Mercer, with a special emphasis on examples from the "Brass Era" (1895-1917). Many of these automobiles and motorcycles have been restored to world-class condition, while others remain in their original, unrestored condition. Antique car enthusiasts as well as those who simply enjoy cars from the past will delight in the beauty, mystery and romance of this unique collection.

The Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic places, is located at 33 Ledgelawn Avenue, Bar Harbor. The concept which eventually grew to be the Bar Harbor Historical Society originated in the summer of 1945. In that year, a committee was formed from the directors of the Jesup Library. They decided to exhibit old photographs and pamphlets showing the town's past in memory of George B. Dorr, the father of Acadia National Park, who died in 1944.

The Old School House & Museum
373 Sound Drive (Route 3/198), Mount Desert 04660 Phone : 207-276-9323 The School House was opened in 1892 for the children of the quarrying and farming village of Sound. The building was used as a school for 34 years, closing in 1926. Until it was restored by the MDI Historical Society in 1999, it had served as a community center, a place for dances, suppers, and tag sales. When the Historical Society restored the building, a curatorial wing was added.
