In 1986, Mike decided to start a business of his own. He purchased a plot of land in Standish and started growing plants. With the knowledge of plants he acquired from being raised on his parent’s farm as well as the knowledge he obtained by taking horticulture classes and attending lectures and seminars, he opened Burnt Meadow Greenhouse. Burnt Meadow was a small operation opened for a few months out of the year. Mike wanted to expand the business and hours of operation so he began looking for land suitable for greenhouses, nursery and display gardens. In 1995 Mike found a piece of property on Ossipee Trail in Gorham, Maine, inspiring him to open Ossipee Trail Garden Center. The garden center is on 16 acres of land with five greenhouses, a nursery and the beginnings of expansive display gardens. Each year new varieties of plants along with the tried and true are available to our customers. Ossipee Trail is a full service garden center.
