Atlantic Baking Co. in Rockland, Maine, was established in December of 2002. Fondly known as ABC, Atlantic Baking Co. has been producing artisan breads and pastries from scratch ever since. We are dedicated to serving our customers, knowing they want the best we can produce in our state-of-the-art bakery. We use only the finest ingredients available, such as unbleached, unbromated flours and use organic ingredients wherever possible. We never use preservatives. set on a granite ledge rising from the sea and surrounded by flower gardens, craignair was built in 1928 to house workers from the nearby quarries. little has changed here since the turn of the century, and you can still feel the mood of a once lively and active working town. the union hall still stands, as well as the old general store and post office. the chapel, where the stonecutters and their families once worshipped, is now an annex to the inn. evidence of the quarry-workers' time is also portrayed in the beautiful granite causeway that stretches across the water to clark island, where a great quarry was once the center of this picturesque village. clark island granite was used in the construction of the central park bridges and gate houses, and in the brooklyn battery tunnel, both in new york city, and the library of congress in washington, just to name a few. the boarding house was converted to an inn in 1947 by alice and david renegar. they sold it in the 70's to the buck's, who sold it to the smith's after five years. in 1998 the original innkeeper's daughter, neva, and her husband steve purchased the inn, then sold it in the spring of 2010 to joanne and michael o'shea.

The Inn began life as a nineteenth-century sail loft, part of a working boatyard. Occasional town meetings were held there, as well as the village's first Masonic gatherings. In the 1920s, it was converted to an inn—the Wan-e-set—where tourists from Boston, arriving by steamer, spent long summer stays. The Inn closed in the mid-1950s, and by the time Tim Watts first saw it, it was dilapidated. Growing up just across the harbor, he was fascinated by the grand old building and its history. At age 27, he acted on his dreams and bought the property, signing a purchase agreement that stipulated he restore the building and have it up and running as an inn in one year. That was 36 years ago, and since then Watts has acquired the Meeting House, an old sea captain's residence on the property.
